Where they differ
Bodymapp gives more metrics, including skeletal muscle mass and circumferences around the body, and it doesn’t take ordinary photos. It needs a Face ID iPhone, and a screen protector can block the sensor. It has only a handful of US App Store ratings so far.
Pip Body Scan works with the normal front camera, so it doesn’t need a depth sensor. It gives fewer numbers, and no muscle figure, but it keeps your shots, symptoms, meals and weight on the same record as your scans.
Choose Bodymapp or Pip Body Scan
- Choose Bodymapp if
- you want muscle mass, lots of circumferences, measurements written to Apple Health, or a scan without ordinary photos.
- Choose Pip Body Scan if
- you’re on GLP-1s or peptides and want a weekly 3D body next to your shot log and daily symptoms.
Questions people ask.
Does Bodymapp work on Android?
Not as a phone scanner. Its FAQ says the Android app is for getting results from a Bodymapp Pro scanning station, such as one at a gym.
Does Pip Body Scan need a depth sensor?
No. It uses the normal front camera. You prop your phone at hip height and Pip talks you through four photos.
